Olympic Boxers and disinformation
It's so unfair! Ian Thorpe I mean. That guy was huge! He had webbed feet. He trained a lot. He could swim. Totally unfair to everyone else who swam against him.
Same with Muhammed Ali. He had talent to burn, great style and looked soooo good. Unfair.
What about Donald Trump? OK, I won't use him as an example...
The vitriol that has come out about the women's Olympic boxers is just unbelievable. No evidence is provided to support the hate. "They failed a gender test". Did they? What the test actually was and what the results were has never been released....but that's guilty as charged by those flinging the accusations. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone. I read that somewhere.
What about the boxers themselves? The IOC allowed them to compete. Accuse the IOC if you want but not those who the IOC deemed were eligible. All the boxers did was train, fight and win some bouts. Even the boxer who retired from the fight after 35 seconds didn't blame her opponent for being "male".
It's a bit like the US Presidential race. This guy is too old. Incompetent. Replace him with someone younger. OK, he steps aside. Now who is the oldest candidate? No more mention of age, rather issues of race now start to appear. All I can say is; "Let the best combatant win..."
